Join our client, a leading global provider of reinsurance and insurance-related risk solutions, as an Accountant based in Malta. In this hybrid role, you combine accounting precision with a focus on reinsurance, IFRS reporting, and treasury support. You will work closely with local colleagues and with the group’s supporting departments around the world to deliver accurate financial statements, robust controls, and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for a proactive professional who can learn quickly, communicate clearly in English, and contribute to ongoing finance transformation. This role is based in Malta and does not support relocation; hybrid working is available.

  • Support IFRS reporting activities, including IFRS 17 postings, reconciliations, and data preparation.
  • Assist with quarterly closings and financial reporting to the group head office and external institutions for IFRS and Solvency II, including data preparation and analysis.
  • Maintain purchase ledger and process invoices.
  • Carry out cost, general ledger, and other accounting duties on SAP-based systems.
  • Handle technical reinsurance accounting, processing statements of accounts.
  • Contribute to compliance tasks within the Finance department, updating internal controls and policies.
  • Support the development of presentation information to help management understand performance results.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects as part of finance transformation efforts.
  • Perform other general accounting duties in investments, reinsurance, treasury operations, and related topics as assigned.
  • University degree in accounting or equivalent; ACCA preferred.
  • Two years' experience or more in the financial industry, ideally in insurance or reinsurance accounting and reporting.
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting skills related to investments and reinsurance.
  • Intermediate IFRS knowledge, relevant to insurance (e.g. IFRS 9); IFRS 17 experience is a plus.
  • Big 4 audit experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent business English and clear communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Quick to grasp concepts, analytical, diligent, and able to learn and grow over time.
