Economy Designer
Our client, a vibrant mobile gaming studio based in Berlin, invites you to join as Economy Designer for the idle game IP. In this on-site role, you protect and grow the game's economy, ensuring a fair, engaging, and profitable experience for players. You will audit existing systems, identify improvements, and drive monetisation and live feature work. You report to the Lead Game Designer and work with a small team of four. This role helps prevent balance issues from impacting players and shapes future updates.
Responsibilities
- Audit existing economy systems and identify practical improvements.
- Design and tune balance, progression, offers, and live events for a mobile free-to-play title.
- Own live economy tuning across the product lifecycle and monitor key metrics.
- Collaborate with the Lead Game Designer and a four-person team to deliver solid outcomes.
- Apply a strong mathematics background to build models, run simulations, and guide decisions.
- Create clear documentation and communicate decisions to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 3 to 7 years of experience in mobile free-to-play economy design, or closely related fields (product management or data roles transitioning to economy design).
- Strong mathematics background is a hard requirement.
- Hands-on experience with mobile F2P economy systems, including balance, monetisation design, progression, and live economy tuning on a live title.
- Experience auditing and tuning economy systems, identifying weaknesses, and implementing improvements.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with a small team and cross-functional partners.
- Willingness to relocate to Berlin; relocation is possible only if you already hold a valid visa for work.
