Operations Plant Manager - Germantown, MD
Our client is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services. We are seeking an Operations Plant Manager for the Germantown, Maryland site to lead the manufacturing of onboard electronic equipment, sub-systems, and related components.
This on-site role requires you to bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to safety, quality, and on-time customer delivery. You will guide cross-functional teams, shape site strategy, and drive performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment that serves customers around the world, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site’s operations, global supply chain, and facilities to deliver high-quality onboard electronics, while driving continuous improvement in EHS, site compliance, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, inventory, and cost.
- Develop and execute the site strategy, align resources with long-term goals, and partner with engineering, product, and project management to implement cost-reduction projects.
- Drive a culture of accountability and operational excellence across exempt and hourly teams; ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
- Manage financial performance, including work-order transactions, inventory, variances, and functional cost; build capacity plans and contingency strategies to meet changing demand.
- Coach, develop, and empower the plant team, supporting career growth, training, and a safety-focused, collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum five years of experience in Plant Management or large Operations supervisory role, or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams and develop talent.
- Depth in EHS, shop operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, materials, sourcing, and logistics; experience with lean, 5S, and continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of operations and business financials, including inventory, productivity, variances, and cost management.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment and manage change across diverse teams.
