Speech Systems Senior AI Engineer (STT / TTS / VAD)

You will take the role of Speech Systems Senior AI Engineer, building production-grade voice pipelines that combine speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and voice activity detection to enable natural, high-quality conversations at low latency.
Responsibilities- Design and develop real-time voice AI pipelines that power live conversations
- Build and optimise low-latency streaming systems using technologies such as LiveKit or similar frameworks
- Implement and improve Voice Activity Detection (VAD) and conversational turn-taking mechanisms
- Develop advanced prompting strategies for multi-turn, context-aware AI interactions
- Integrate LLM-based solutions with voice interfaces for assisted and autonomous experiences
- Improve system performance through latency optimisation and interruption handling
- Evaluate and enhance speech recognition and voice synthesis quality
- Collaborate with product and operations teams to embed AI voice into customer processes
- Ensure scalability, monitoring, reliability, and fault tolerance across real-time systems
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with exposure to AI, real-time systems, or distributed applications
- Hands-on experience with voice AI technologies including STT, TTS, and VAD
- Experience with real-time communication technologies such as LiveKit, WebRTC, or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering for conversational applications
- Proficiency in Python
- Knowledge of streaming architectures and latency optimisation techniques
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software systems
