Systems Engineer

Our client is Malta's leading IT services provider. At the heart of their operations are their two ISO27001 and PCI-DSS certified data centre facilities, interlinked with their international locations in Italy and Germany allowing direct connections to the Far East. Our client deployed Malta’s first Public Cloud services platform and their portfolio of services enables them to offer customers a range of public, private and hybrid cloud services – which can be deployed at their premises, hosted in any of our client’s data centres, or integrated with services offered by leading cloud services providers - thereby scaling their solutions from the desktop to the data centre and into the cloud.

Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Systems Engineer within their Enterprise Solutions team. The Enterprise Solutions team provides managed services to our client’s customers - on-premises, in the data centre and on cloud environments. As a Systems Engineer you will be:

•    Onboarding, administering and performing operational tasks on customers’ cloud and on-premises environments.
•    Helping design and then implement new technical projects for our customers.
•    Work day-to-day on operational issues, requests and project tasks involving various technologies e.g. Azure, Windows servers, Linux servers, patching tools, server virtual machine etc.
•    Installing, configuring, administrating and managing Azure compute instances, Azure Backup, Azure Storage Monitor, snapshot, Azure Storage.
•    Configuring, administrating various Microsoft 365 technologies including Defender and Intune.
•    Proactively scheduling preventive maintenance and service enhancements to customers’ managed environments across systems, networking, security, and cloud.
•    Taking ownership of issues, with client focus to prioritize and resolve problems.
•    Working with the commercial team to identify customer requirements and help build the right solution.
•    Documenting environments and problem solutions.

Candidate requirements:

We’re looking for an experienced engineer with knowledge of cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and AWS. You will also:
•    Have extensive hands-on system administration skills in multiple tech areas such as: Windows and/or Linux server-side infrastructure, virtual machines, and associated technologies on physical servers, VMWare and database administration.
•    Don't mind configuring and troubleshoot Terminal servers (RDS), Windows Clustering, NLB, DFS, Internal PKI, and Hyper-V. PowerShell cmdlet and scripting;
•    Are able to effectively coordinate and multi-task across various groups and functional teams inside and outside of the organization.

The following experience while not essential would be advantageous:

·         Experience on AWS and/or GCP

·         Knowledge of scripting and automation concepts;

·         Knowledge of international standards and/or regulations such as ISO 27001, DORA, PCI-DSS etc.;

·         Knowledge of security best practices;

·         Microsoft qualifications such as AZ-500, MS-500 and AZ-104.
